Kambiz Hooshmand

Kambiz Hooshmand is a proven leader, investor, and passionate mentor.  His executive career spans more than 20 years building teams, scaling companies, and investing in both early VC and late-stage private equity roles.

Kambiz was the chairman of the board at Infinera for over ten years, where he guided the transition of the company from a limited product offering to a vast array of solutions sold to hundreds of carriers globally.  With more than $1B of revenue, Infinera is a leader in optical transport solutions for global internet traffic. Kambiz has invested in early-stage companies through his incubator Archimedes Labs, where there have been three exits to date, one Unicorn, and another en route.  Kambiz was also an Advisor to Silver Lake Partners, a technology private equity fund with over $90B under management, where he drove the strategy around the mid-market networking sector.

Kambiz was a CEO at AppliedMicro.  He led the company to profitability through becoming a recognized leader in optical transport semiconductor solutions.  He began his executive role at Stratacom as an integral member of the early team that built the world’s largest carrier data transport solutions.  Stratacom was acquired by Cisco for $4.5B.  Kambiz held various executive roles at Cisco including the launch of the world’s largest router in 2005. 

Kambiz received his M.S. in Engineering Management from Stanford University. He is passionate about our planet and the climate.  He believes innovation is the best method to address this existentialist threat and is focused on driving investments in this space within NosTerra Ventures.  Kambiz also loves soccer and most enjoy mentoring his two sons through their career and entrepreneurship decisions.
