Ventures & Projects

Providing energy to power the next 100 years of growth

Advancing access to abundant energy that is low-cost and clean is one of our world’s  Grand Challenges. We are focused on supporting energy generation that is carbon neutral while also abundant and low-cost, in order to support a rapid transition away from fossil fuels, and to power the next century of development.

Reversing the course of climate change is an urgent, global mandate and will require investment in technology, science, and education, as well as changes to our energy policy.

We are investing in startups like Pure Watercraft, which aims to change the personal watercraft industry, and Niron Magnetics, whose innovative magnet technology aims to disrupt how automobiles, computers and other appliances are powered.

Dave Welch serves  on the Board of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)  which works to safeguard the planet’s resources, from its people to its natural systems. NRDC has successfully worked to accelerate the shift from fossil fuels to clean energy by pressing the U.S. government to adopt first-ever national limits on carbon pollution from power plants.

NosTerra also invests in initiatives like Secure California’s Energy Future, a campaign advocating for the integration of western power grids. To sustain California’s economic growth and meet our ambitious climate targets, we support action to allow for the expansion and updating  of our electricity infrastructure.

Through partnerships with academic institutions like Stanford University and CalTech, NosTerra also supports and nurtures cutting edge research and data modeling.
