Impact Panel: The Opportunity Gaps and What We Can Do About It

Our series features bold entrepreneurs who take grand challenges head-on and discuss opportunities for our potential personal contributions.

About this event

The third webinar in our series is about opportunity gaps, specifically in Housing and Public Education. 4-Good co-founder John Kremer will lead a panel discussion with a few 4-Good Venture friends and portfolio companies to discuss how they are addressing that opportunity gap.

John will be joined by three guests who lead both for-profit and not-for-profit companies: Pallet Shelters, Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula [BGCP], and The Soulsville Foundation. Each company addresses the opportunity gap in its unique way:

  • Jennifer Obiaya, Co-CEO of Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula. BGCP provides youth access to social, academic, and career opportunities.

  • Richard Greenwald, President / CEO, The Soulsville Foundation. Soulsville Charter School and Soulsville Music Academy provide quality high school education and/or music training in Memphis, one of the most impoverished areas in Tennessee, if not the entire country. Richard has led or held senior positions in welfare-to-work and prisoner-to-work organizations.

  • Amy King, Founder and CEO of Pallet Shelter. Pallet Shelter builds basic homes for individuals experiencing homelessness, providing the essential need for shelter and safety. Pallet Shelter also provides workforce opportunities in manufacturing and construction as 80% of their staff has experienced homelessness, addiction, or the criminal justice system.
