I am passionate about entrepreneurship and proud to be a part of the Silicon Valley ecosystem for over 40 years. I am also passionate to challenge the existing order to raise our collective standards of excellence and accomplish important goals. Silicon Valley has proven time and again that it can rise to solve big challenges, including enabling our universities to continue to be the best in the world, overcoming the increasing challenges to our environment and thwarting threats to our democracy.
My background is helping to build two law firms to 150 lawyers each, investing as a venture capitalist for 10 years and growing a startup company as an entrepreneur. I was also a high school basketball coach for eight years, named one of the top 45 lawyers in the U.S. under 45 years, awarded a spot on the Forbes Midas List, honored to deliver the commencement address at UCLA, my alma mater, and served as Chairman of the National Venture Capital Association. Most recently, I was a senior executive at Carbon, a company digitally transforming manufacturing. I consider it to be the ultimate privilege to have worked with some of Silicon Valley's most accomplished people throughout my career.
Most importantly, I have a great family including Judy, my wife of over 40 years, two wonderful daughters, two terrific sons-in-law and two growing grandchildren.
